The nation was shocked by Johor Bahru High Court’s verdict on Sam Ke Ting recently and since then, many have shown support and urged her to file an appeal.

Following the verdict and the cry for an appeal, old videos of basikal lajak from several years back have also resurfaced online on various social media. 1 of the videos has also gained the attention of the police and yesterday (14 April), PDRM released a statement via the Royal Malaysian Police Facebook page and revealed that the video was recorded back in 2016.

According to the statement, the incident took place in Jalan Sultan Ismail, KL and the police believed the video is being recirculated again by irresponsible parties.

“We urge the public to stop sharing old pictures and videos that may create confusion and cause anger,” the head of the Investigation & Traffic Enforcement said.

It’s to show how dangerous they are!

After the release of the statement, netizens expressed their takes on the matter and most of them said the videos are shared to create awareness.

“The video was shared again to show how crazy the teenagers can be and how irresponsible their parents are. It’s nothing new. If Ke Ting did not hit them back then, somebody else still would. They’re not the kings of the roads.”

“Old videos, but have the basikal lajak gangs gone extinct? The objective of resharing old videos is to show the danger and in the meantime, a call for authorities to take action. Come to my place. Not only the lajak gangs but also mat rempit and underage motorcyclists on the road.”

Do you think people should stop sharing old videos & images of basikal lajak? Or is it wise to make them an awareness among the people?
