The irresponsible action of a Malaysian travel agent in Japan went viral recently and left many netizens enraged and worse, gave a bad name to tourists from our country.

Shared by Sou Tanaka, an employee of a restaurant in Shibuya, Tokyo which serves traditional Malaysian dishes, the posting written in the Japanese language has been shared over 475 times and garnered more than 1,000 reactions as of the time of writing.

In the Facebook post, Tanaka revealed that the Malaysian travel agent contacted the restaurant, Malay Asian Cuisine, in the early morning of 4 May to reserve lunch for his group of 25 people.

After the restaurant suggested a set menu for the group and informed him of the price, the travel agent agreed to it.

However, when Tanaka messaged the man via WhatsApp when the reserved time was approaching (1.30pm),  there was no reply.

Tanaka then called the Malaysian travel agent via WhatsApp but the man didn’t pick up. He then tried calling using a regular phone call despite it being expensive as the travel agent was using a Malaysian number and again, there was no answer.

The restaurant had to dispose of 25 sets of Nasi Lemak which the man ordered

The Facebook post then revealed that the Malaysian travel agent and his group never showed up and that they had to dispose of 25 sets of Nasi Lemak which the travel agent ordered.

Beyond that, Tanaka was saddened by the incident as the restaurant even had to turn down several customers who came during the time when the Malaysian group was slated to arrive.

Tanaka added that there have been customers who cancelled before but they have the courtesy to contact him beforehand and apologise, something that the Malaysian travel agent didn’t even bother to do.

Tanaka asserted,

“This is the first time that I’ve encountered someone without a sense of responsibility…. 25 sets of Nasi Lemak… So Sad.”

At the end of the post, Tanaka revealed the name and company of the travel agent so that others wouldn’t suffer the same fate as his restaurant did.
