We’ve all had that subject in school that we dreaded going to while still studying. However, this 13-year-old girl decided to take things another step by faking her kidnapping to not go to that class.

According to Borneo Post, the secondary school student was in hot water after her lie of being kidnapped surfaced.

It is said that she had faked her kidnapping on May 2 as she wanted to skip her agama class.

Her initial story went like this: she was kidnapped and gagged before being pushed into a van, and when the kidnappers went for a toilet break at a public place, she managed to escape and seek help.

Kota Kinabalu Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Kasim Muda said that after pressing for more information, the girl crumbled and admitted to her lie.

“Based on police investigation and question asked, there were doubts in the girl’s answers and when police pressed on, she finally admitted to have made up the story (of being kidnapped) as she was afraid she would be scolded by her parents for skipping her Agama class.”

Further investigations showed that the girl was wandering in a shopping centre before the security personnel noticed her.

Kasim also advised members of the public, regardless of their age, not to make up stories with crime elements, as this would lead to panic in the community. “It is also an offence to make false reports,” he said.

“Such an act will also cause inconvenience to the police as it will waste time and energy to carry out an investigation.”

In addition to that, members of the public are also urged not to upload any unverified claims or statements on social media.

After the investigations, the girl was handed back to her parents. We hope that she learns a lesson from this.
