Out of all the outrageous birth stories that are out there in the world, this one is surely a memorable one.
A Singaporean woman shared on Facebook an epic birth story of her son, who came sooner than she expected. It was on his sixth month birthday when she decided to commemorate the event by sharing her story of how he was brought into this world.
Sindhu wrote that she was doing some house chores at night one day when she decided to kiss her dog goodnight before going to bed. So, she did a full squat to give him a kiss, but when she stood up, she knew something didn’t feel right.
She felt like something ruptured inside her and her contractions started immediately at 12.55am. She tried to time the intervals between each contraction but found it hard to do so as it rapidly dropped from 10 minutes to five minutes apart within a short time.
She woke her husband up at 1.10am, and they both made their way to their Jeep. However, because it was a high vehicle, Sindhu broke her water bag while climbing up, which sped up the labour process. She knew immediately that she was going to deliver the baby in the car.
“I lined the seat with a shawl I had in hand and tried to hold my son in as much as possible,” she said.
“But I know that’s not possible as I felt the intense crowning at each contraction which came in. I was supposed to be pushing I guess, but I didn’t.”
“So for the next and the following contraction I just had to trust my gut and push and there he came, after two pushes, this ninja turtle looking human.”
Sindhu then shared that she started panicking as her son did not cry for the first 30 seconds. It was only after she started wailing hysterically in the car did he shriek and started crying too.
20 minutes later, the family arrived at the hospital where her baby’s umbilical cord was cut at the entrance of the hospital. Both Sindhu and her son are healthy.
Sindhu’s labour took a total of 52 minutes, just a day before the estimated date of arrival. She named the boy James Arjuna McQueen.
“He wasn’t named McQueen because he was born on the highway but because his dad is a fan of Steve McQueen,” she said.
One of the funniest things about this story is that the place of birth on his birth certificate displays, “INSIDE A JEEP ON PIE AFTER ANAK BUKIT FLYOVER” – with PIE referring to Pan Island Expressway in Singapore.
“Never in my wildest dreams I imagined to be pushing out a human in the car on the way to the hospital with no assistance,” Sindhu said at the end of her post.
“Win already la son, win already. You beat me!”
“Like what your name (Arjuna) suggests, you are truly a warrior to brave 24-degree temperatures naked for 20mins till we reached the hospital.”
Wow! This certainly is a story to tell for a lifetime!
