Iconic Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg is currently in Penang to film ‘The Big Fix’, an upcoming Netflix crime thriller, with production set to take place across several locations in the state over the next two weeks.
According to Penang Island City Council (MBPP) Mayor Datuk A. Rajendran, filming began last Friday and is expected to continue for approximately two weeks, as reported by Berita Harian. A video showing Wahlberg descending from a Perodua Kelisa in Penang is currently circulating on social media.

Where to spot the actor around Penang
Among the confirmed filming locations are Lorong Kulit, City Stadium, Batu Kawan Stadium, and Padang Macallum, where production crews have been spotted preparing for scenes.
In the meantime, some social media users claimed to have seen Wahlberg at the popular Nasi Kandar Sulaiman in Penang, though the outlet has yet to confirm the Hollywood star’s presence.

Wahlberg sends blessings from Malaysia
Wahlberg also shared a video on Instagram featuring the Rev. Fr. Michael Raymond, the parish priest of the Church of Divine Mercy.
“Happy Sunday, brother. God bless you. Stay prayed up, from Malaysia,” he wrote.

Meanwhile, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) chairman Datuk Hans Isaac appeared to confirm that the Netflix production is filming in Malaysia.
Responding to Wahlberg’s post, he commented:
“It was nice meeting you on set yesterday and taking that photo with our Malaysian National Film Board team.”
According to a Facebook post by FINAS, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil also visited the filming location of Netflix’s international film project in Penang, which is supported by the Film in Malaysia Incentive (FIMI) programme.

What’s ‘The Big Fix’ about?
The upcoming American crime thriller follows a former Interpol officer who now works within FIFA. What begins as a routine investigation soon unravels into a global match-fixing conspiracy, sending him on a dangerous pursuit of a powerful mastermind with ties to the Chinese Triads.
According to IMDb, ‘The Big Fix’, helmed by acclaimed Icelandic filmmaker Baltasar Kormákur, boasts an impressive cast that includes Mark Wahlberg, Riz Ahmed, Zlatko Burić, and Chin Han. US-based Malaysian actress Nuha Jes Izman, known for playing Kristen in Showtime’s Yellowjackets, will also appear in the thriller flick, which currently has no release date.
