UMNO Sec-Gen: Party Raises Enough to Pay Najib’s RM50 Million Fine, Closes Donation Fund
UMNO has officially announced the closure of its special crowdfunding initiative, Tabung Solidariti Najib Razak, after successfully achieving its collection target to support former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The initiative, which was first launched on 18 September, reached its goal following continuous public and party contributions, enabling the party to settle all required payments with the judicial system.
All payments settled at Kuala Lumpur High Court
In a statement released on Facebook today, UMNO Secretary-General Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki confirmed that all financial obligations related to the court proceedings were finalized this morning.
“UMNO would like to announce that the fund collection through Tabung Solidariti Najib Razak, launched on 18 September to assist former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, has reached its target and is sufficient,” Dr. Asyraf Wajdi said.
He further added that UMNO had completed all payment processes directly to the Kuala Lumpur High Court earlier in the morning.
Special account officially closed to public contributions
With the collection goal successfully achieved, UMNO clarified that there is no longer a need for ongoing public crowdfunding for this purpose.
“UMNO hereby officially closes the special Tabung Solidariti Najib Razak account created to receive public donations, and there is no further need for public crowdfunding for this purpose,
“UMNO wishes to express its deepest gratitude to Allah and record its appreciation to UMNO members across Malaysia and the general public who have continuously contributed to the account provided since day one,” the statement read.
