The struggles of life can be severe for some, which is why a little help every once in a while can go a long way.

For one differently-abled delivery rider, his troubles had hit the fan when his motorcycle, a necessity for him to make a living for him and his children, was stolen.

Though, thankfully, in came Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim. The politician took to his Facebook page to share how he had extended his aid upon hearing of the differently-abled delivery rider’s hardships.

He wrote, “This brother’s story is very saddening. His name is Muadz, he is differently-abled and the motorcycle he uses to earn an income as a Lalamove rider was lost and stolen yesterday (September 5). How heavy his burdens are.”

Initially, when Sim had reached out to Muadz, the rider thought he was being scammed but decided to meet Sim anyway as at that point, he had nothing to lose.

“When he arrive at the motorcycle shop, Muadz shared his life story. Last year, he had an accident, his right leg is now badly bent and he has to use crutches to move. But, in order to make a living for his wife and children, Muadz continued to work as a Lalamove rider,” Sim shared.

Despite his hard work, the income wasn’t enough

“The debt at home is increasing. The electricity bill is almost RM1,000 in arrears, this month TNB said they want to cut the supply. The monthly PASTI MALAYSIA kindergarten fee for his 6-year-old child of RM1,000 has been unpaid since May of this year.”

With all of that, on top of the theft of his bike, Muadz felt lost. Sim, being a father himself, felt for the rider and decided to purchase a new motorcycle for him and settled his debts so that he can continue his efforts to take care of his family.

“This is outside the Bukit Mertajam area, I can’t use the allocation so I used my own money. This may be my last salary as a Member of Parliament if the government dissolves Parliament next month. I hope Muadz will take good care of this motorcycle,”

“I also settled the outstanding RM1,000 electricity bills. Otherwise, in this month the electricity will be cut. My friend, sister Nurul Izzah Anwar, called me and shared that she wanted to donate RM1,000 to pay off the kindergarten fee debt,” Sim explained.

If you would like to contribute monetarily, here’s how you can

“If there are friends who want to make a small donation to help Muadz get leg surgery, you can send it to his account directly.”

A little help can go a long way.

We wish nothing but the best for Muadz and his family!
