By now, you would have known about the American professor who gave a talk at our most prestigious university, the University of Malaya.

After his keynote address, his other events had been cancelled and he has since fled Malaysia in a hurry.

Many have bashed the academician and even the university for hosting him. Investigations into this matter are ongoing as well.

Our prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also commented on this issue at an event on April 26, reported BERNAMA.

The PM was asked to comment on the academician’s social media post describing Malaysia as unsafe for travel.

“A mediocre scholar should not be invited as a visiting professor in the first place. The rest has been answered by the Higher Education Minister (Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir).”

The Higher Education Minister had said that the professor made a dangerous claim about the safety of our country for travellers and even the United States embassy in Malaysia is uncomfortable with it, reported BERNAMA.

“The embassy reaffirmed that Malaysia is a safe country to travel to.”

Bruce Gilley, who holds zionist views and believes in colonialism, was slotted for 3 events with the Department of International and Strategic Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Um 1

For now, it seems like he is in Thailand, where he continues to comment on this issue and touts all Malaysians (even PM Anwar) as his new fans, which weirdly reminds us of a stand-up comedian whose existence we’ve forgotten.

Well, delusion is not the solution as Gen Zs say, what is your take on this? Let us know in the comments.
