A 35-year-old woman has been remanded for 2 days after she is believed to have been the cause of a fatal accident that took place at KM98.6 Lebuhraya Pantai Timur 1 (LPT1) on Saturday (April 27).

She was remanded along with the passenger of her vehicle, a 37-year-old man from China.

The #UpdateInfo Twitter page shared dashcam footage of the incident, which showed the woman standing in the middle of the highway while her car was parked on the roadside to the left. A pickup truck that was driving on the right lane slowed down significantly upon seeing her, and the woman quickly ran back to the left side of the road.

Though, a superbike then rammed into the back of the pickup truck, causing the motorcyclist’s immediate death.

All of this happened while the woman’s passenger, the man from China, was sitting and watching from under the overpass nearby.

While the authorities have reported that the woman was crossing the road, many have speculated that the woman was standing on the middle of the highway in an attempt to take her own life.

“People shared that there was a woman standing in the middle of the road who wanted to commit su*c*de,” #UpdateInfo wrote.

Temerloh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan shared that the accident happened after the pickup truck driver had hit their brakes upon seeing the woman walking across the highway.

“At the same time, a Suzuki GSX-R1000 type motorcycle ridden by the victim came from behind and directly hit the pickup truck, before the victim fell onto the road while his motorcycle was thrown into the back of the pickup truck,” he explained.
