A 35-year-old coconut trader was arrested in Skudai, Johor, after he showed up at the station to turn himself in and was immediately taken into custody to help with the investigation.

Loh Kam Faht pleaded not guilty after being accused of raping his own girlfriend’s 15-year-old niece in a hotel room in Tampoi in July 2024.

The victim filed a police report

In a statement shared by the Johor Bahru North District Police, it was revealed that after the victim filed a police report, the suspect fled. Later, on November 26, 2024, the Johor Bahru North District Police Chief issued a statement and shared wanted notices to help track him down.

When the suspect was caught, the court approved a six-day remand from December 16 to December 21, 2024.

Turns out, the suspect has a past criminal record, but his urine test came back clean. The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, which could mean up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

The court set bail at RM20k with 3 extra conditions

According to Sinar Harian, Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Farah Wahida Shahudin suggested a bail of RM30,000.

However, the defence asked for a lower amount, explaining that the accused doesn’t have a steady income and is supporting his 68-year-old mom, who has diabetes and heart disease.

The court set bail at RM20,000 with 3 extra conditions. The accused must not disturb any prosecution witnesses, must report to the nearest police station once a month, and must surrender his international passport to the court.
