17yo M’sian Student Tragically Loses Her Life After Being Struck by Falling Beam at Selangor Temple

A shocking accident occurred yesterday (7 April) at a temple in Tanjong Sepat, Selangor.

A 17-year-old female Form 5 student lost her life after being struck by a falling beam while accompanying her family to the temple.

The victim was assisting with cleaning duties

According to China Press, the incident took place at approximately 8 PM. The girl was helping her family with cleaning work when a heavy wooden beam suddenly collapsed and struck her. Although emergency responders arrived quickly, she sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was subsequently sent to the hospital for an autopsy. The Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Akmalrizal Bin Mohd Radzi, confirmed the incident and stated that further details will be released in due course. However, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) had not yet released an official statement at the time of writing (8 April).

Temple management issues apology

This morning, the temple management released a statement on Facebook expressing their condolences to the grieving family and assuring the public of their cooperation with the authorities.

“Last night, a beam collapsed and accidentally struck a girl while she was cleaning the temple, resulting in her death. We are deeply saddened and apologise sincerely to the family of the deceased.”

The statement continued: “May the departed rest in peace, and may the family find strength and comfort during this difficult time. The temple will also fully cooperate with all subsequent matters to fulfil its responsibilities.”
