The Road Transport Department (JPJ) caught a man red-handed after he attempted to act as a “tonto” (an individual who provides information to disrupt or hinder the work of the authorities) by tailing an enforcement vehicle on 4 April in Kedah.

In the incident at Kilometre 1, Kampung Sungai Pial–Tanjung Dawai, the suspect was believed to have been relaying information to others using a communication device.

Technical offences and dangerous riding

According to JPJ’s Facebook post, checks revealed that the man was also found to have committed several technical offences on the motorcycle he was riding.

“The suspect was found following an enforcement vehicle and is believed to have been relaying information to others using a communication device.

“Checks also revealed that he was using his phone while riding and riding in a dangerous manner,” the post read.

Vehicle seizure and JPJ’s firm stance

The man was subsequently stopped, and his motorcycle was seized before being taken for further action.

“His motorcycle was taken to the JPJ Kuala Ketil Enforcement Station for further action. JPJ stressed that strict action will continue to be taken against any party attempting to obstruct enforcement operations,” the statement added.
