Yep, looks like our prayers have been answered, ladies. Launched in time for International Women’s Day, this feature gives women a little extra peace of mind with rides built on trust and comfort.

We know getting around the city can sometimes feel tricky or stressful. With Women-Only Rides (Beta), you can leave those worries behind and enjoy every ride feeling safer and more relaxed. Read on to find out how it works on your Grab app!

Ride comfortably with “Akak Grab”

Getting around the city should be simple and stress-free. But let’s be honest, a solo trip across town can sometimes make you wish for a little extra reassurance.

That’s where Grab’s Women-Only Rides (Beta) comes in, giving women the option to ride with a woman driver whenever they want.

And honestly, it feels less like a regular ride and more like being picked up by your friendly “Akak Grab”. Instead of the usual quiet trip, you might find yourself chatting, sharing stories, or simply enjoying a ride that feels a little more familiar and comfortable all the way home.

How Grab’s Women-Only Rides (Beta) work!

Ready to get connected with your very own “Akak Grab”? To access Women-Only Rides (Beta), you need to be verified through the Grab app, as the feature is only visible to verified women passengers and matches you exclusively with women driver-partners through Advance Booking (AB).

Before you start booking, you’ll need to complete one quick step: a one-time identity verification by submitting your MyKad or passport along with a selfie. This will be cross-checked with official records to make sure the feature stays safe and dedicated just for women.

Once that’s done, booking your ride is super easy:

  • Step 1: Enter your pickup and drop-off location as usual.

And just like that, your “Akak Grab” will be on the way! Whether you’re riding solo or with your girlfriends, it works for both single and group bookings.

Currently, Women-Only Rides (Beta) is available in the Klang Valley and can only be accessed through Advance Booking. Since the feature is exclusively for women passengers and women drivers, every ride is designed to feel a little more reassuring from start to finish.

A feature Malaysians have been asking for

Unnamed 20 1

If you’re wondering how Women-Only Rides (Beta) came about, here’s the story: Malaysians asked for it, and Grab listened. Women passengers and driver-partners shared their feedback, saying they wanted a ride option made just for women, and Grab turned that request into reality.

By pairing women passengers with women drivers, every trip becomes a little more comfortable, trustworthy, and familiar.

And with Grab’s existing safety features like emergency buttons and real-time ride monitoring, you’ve got extra peace of mind for every ride home. By creating these features, Grab is showing that it truly listens to its community.

Every ride should feel comfortable!

Grab believes that Women-Only Rides (Beta) can make the city a more secure and welcoming space for women, not just passengers, but driver-partners too. It builds on safety measures many women already know and rely on, like women-only train coaches and women-only parking zones.

Now, Grab is bringing that same sense of protection to the last mile: the trip from a transport hub straight to your doorstep.

At the end of the day, Grab’s idea is simple: when a woman requests a ride, she should have a woman driver there ready to get her home comfortably.

The feature is available now, so go ahead, book in advance, and let your “Akak Grab” take care of the ride home.
