Shuen Chiu, Marketing Director of Slim Chickens Malaysia, said: “We are excited to announce the official launch of Slim Chickens Malaysia and the opening of our second outlet at NU Sentral. Today’s launch marks the debut of Slim Chickens in Asia, kicking off the brand’s sustainable long-term expansion plan across the region. In Malaysia, we aim to open at least another 9-12 outlets over the next 2-3 years.

Slim Chickens stands in a category of its own — the fast-casual chicken tenders category — we are not a fast food, K-fry or grilled chicken restaurant. Instead, our focus is on creating light, crisp, flavourful, juicy tenders from authentic fresh chicken tenders, paired with a variety of 12 different house-made sauces for different tastes, in an environment that’s fun to hang out with friends and family alike.

“Malaysians have very discerning food tastes, and this is what we consistently see with our first outlet. Our returning customer rate is high, and our biggest fans are those who understand and care about quality and flavour. We have been motivated by this and will continue to deliver premium craveable food with the best quality, clean flavours and consistency, at an affordable price.

A huge part of Slim Chickens is also about Southern hospitality — kindness, warmth, building and welcoming communities into our ‘home’, and that’s what we are excited to build on top of our product focus. We believe that food brings people together, and that’s part of our focus for our growth. Stay tuned to keep updated for more of this coming your way.

We are also proud to announce that Slim Chickens Malaysia has obtained halal certification for our operational premises, and we maintain stringent internal controls across our entire supply chain, from sourcing halal-certified ingredients to food preparation and kitchen operations, to ensure that every meal we serve meets the highest halal standards.”

Growing fast, here and around the world

Slim Chickens is renowned globally for its cooked-to-order fresh food and its devoted fanbase, known as the “Slimthusiasts.” Uniquely, Slim Chickens offers an extensive range of house dipping sauces, allowing customers to experience a different flavour profile on every visit. Its menu is broader than many in the segment, with chicken tenders, fresh salads, sandwiches, chicken wings, and unique side items. Slim Chickens outlets are nestled within an open and inviting layout that speaks to the brand’s focus on hospitality.

As it deepens its foray into Asia, Slim Chickens continues a rapid growth trajectory that has seen it emerge as one of the most exciting fast-casual chicken concepts globally. The leading fast casual chicken brand presents a premier franchising opportunity, offering prime multi-unit development territories, a passionate leadership team, and a world-class franchisee support system.

In 2025, Slim Chickens continued its impressive momentum with nearly a 25% increase in global restaurant growth. There are more than 300 Slim Chickens outlets worldwide, with the UK and EU being the brand’s fastest-growing markets.

As of August 2025, there were over 1,000 Slim Chickens locations in development around the world. This year, Slim Chickens plans to continue its global expansion, targeting new markets including Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the Philippines.

A strong moment for Malaysia’s food scene

The launch of Slim Chickens in Malaysia comes amid strong growth in the local foodservice sector. According to market analysis by Mordor Intelligence, the Malaysian foodservice market was valued at USD16.67 billion (approximately RM67 billion) in 2026 and is projected to grow to USD30.74 billion (approximately RM124 billion) by 2031, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.05% between 2026 and 2031.

The expansion of the sector is primarily attributed to rising consumer purchasing power, steady economic growth, and increased adoption of mobile ordering applications.
