So, recently, the hashtag; #KerajaanGagal, has been taking social media by storm as people are using it to express their discontent with how the Malaysian government has been handling the Covid-19 pandemic.

While it’s amazing to see how Malaysians are standing up for themselves and calling the government to be accountable for their decisions and actions, we should also be accountable for our own actions and express ourselves in a healthier, more productive manner.

For instance, the Melaka Daily Facebook page took to their account to showcase how Malaysians had spray-painted ‘Kerajaan Gagal’ across the walls at the Melaka River.

Vandalism 1

They wrote, “Sungai Melaka has been polluted with vandalism culture.”

Vandalism 2

As we fight for a better Malaysia, we have to leave behind such actions as vandalising public property. That’s just not going to do anyone any good.

On top of that, other innocent people are tasked with the responsibility of having to clean up the mess.

Vandalism 3

In order to fight for a better Malaysia, we have to be better as well. That means to put aside petty actions such as the one showcased above and taking the necessary steps towards expressing one’s dissatisfaction in more appropriate channels.

We’re better than this.

We genuinely hope that whoever vandalised the location chooses not to repeat their actions again.
