Malaysia is closely monitoring the devastating flash floods in Nepal, as efforts continue to locate 54 Malaysians who remain uncontactable following the disaster in Rasuwa district.

In a Facebook post on Thursday morning (August 27), Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his deep sorrow over the destruction caused by the floods. He acknowledged the growing concern among families and loved ones anxiously awaiting news.

Anwar assured Malaysians that the government is taking measures

“The Malaysian Embassy in Kathmandu is working closely with Nepalese authorities and relevant agencies to contact those affected and confirm their safety.

“Officers from the Malaysian High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, are also being mobilised to strengthen coordination and support operations on the ground,” Anwar said.

For the families of the 54 Malaysians, the wait for news is undoubtedly filled with fear and uncertainty. Each passing hour carries the weight of unanswered calls, unanswered messages and the hope that their loved ones will be found safe.

The government, through the Foreign Ministry, has pledged to continue monitoring the situation closely and mobilising all necessary efforts to safeguard the welfare of Malaysians caught up in the disaster.

Beyond official measures, Anwar also appealed to Malaysians to come together in prayer for those still unaccounted for.

“I urge all Malaysians to join together in praying that all of them will be found soon in safety, and that all search and rescue efforts will be made easier. God willing.”

As Nepal confronts the aftermath of a disaster that has left communities reeling, Malaysia’s message is one of solidarity with the Nepalese people.

For now, hope remains at the heart of the search. Stay tuned to WORLD OF BUZZ as we keep you updated.
