A recent video has left many netizens in stitches after a man thought he had fallen victim to car theft while parked at a petrol station in Terengganu.

Taking to Threads, Furqan (@furqanxn) shared a video of the incident, showing the moment he believed “his car” was being driven away by another driver.

He chased after the “thief” before realising his mistake

According to Furqan, he had gone to the toilet and returned to find what he thought was his car being driven away.

He immediately ran after the vehicle while shouting, “Thief!”, prompting people nearby to look over.

However, in a hilarious twist, Furqan soon realised that the vehicle wasn’t actually his. It was the exact same model as his car and had been parked right next to it.

“I thought my car had been stolen. I came out of the toilet and saw a car moving, and I was alone, so of course I thought it was a thief. I confidently started screaming ‘thief! thief!’ while running after it, and everyone was staring. One guy even ran after me.

“Turns out, the car was the exact same model as mine and was parked right next to mine. I was so embarrassed I felt like hiding my face. I didn’t say much, just thanked the guy and left,” he wrote.

“Take a moment to calm down and double-check everything”

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Furqan shared a little reminder for fellow Malaysians to double-check and investigate before jumping to conclusions.

“I just want to share this as a reminder to others because I don’t want anyone else to go through the embarrassment I felt. Guys, this is why older people always remind us to look properly and investigate before doing anything.

“Just because something looks a certain way right in front of us doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what’s actually happening. Luckily, all I did was shout ‘thief’. Imagine if I had gone over, smashed the window and beat the guy up. And who knows, the guy who ran after me might’ve joined in too. Then we’d all be in trouble.”
