A school health screening uncovered a horrifying ordeal, as it revealed that a 49-year-old plantation worker had allegedly been raping his daughter over the past two years at a home in Johor.

According to Berita Harian, the accused pleaded not guilty to two counts of allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter, with the charges read out before Judge Emelia Kaswati Mohamad Khalid at the Sessions Court.

The alleged abuse was uncovered during a health screening at school

According to the charges, the accused allegedly raped his daughter at a house in Tangkak on two occasions, between 8 AM and 9 AM and 9 PM and 10 PM, in 2024 and January this year.

The charges were filed under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 30 years and whipping upon conviction.

According to a police report, the victim alleged that the abuse had been ongoing for the past two years, starting when she was 11. She only came forward recently after revealing the alleged abuse during a health screening at school.

Prosecution rejects accused’s bail application

Earlier, the accused had appealed to be released on bail, but the prosecution objected, saying that he was still in contact with the victim.

The prosecution also argued that he could be a flight risk if released, while highlighting concerns over the victim’s safety.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court rejected the accused’s bail application.

The case will be mentioned again on 18 September for the submission of documents and the appointment of a lawyer.
