On Wednesday (September 3) a cosplayer in her 20s tragically died after falling from the 28th floor of her condominium in Bayan Lepas, Penang.

Her body, sporting blonde-pinkish hair, was discovered by members of the public in a parking area on the ground floor of the complex at around 9:20 PM.

Autopsy confirmed the victim wasn’t pregnant

After the discovery, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) initially reported that the victim was allegedly five months pregnant and was believed to have recently gone through a breakup, with her partner leaving her before the tragic incident.

In a recent update, South-West District Police Chief ACP Sazalee Adam said an autopsy later confirmed that the victim was not pregnant, according to Sin Chew Daily.

Earlier reports noted that the victim was wearing an anime costume resembling the character ‘Kurumi Tokisaki’. Neighbours reportedly noticed the incident after hearing a loud bang from the location of the incident.

“She often dressed up in cosplay”

Residents also claimed that the victim was often spotted in cosplay, wearing a complete anime costume while carrying a doll and sitting near the elevator lobby of the building.

They also claimed that they last saw the victim with a woman believed to be her mother, on Wednesday evening.

“The victim’s mother was also seen wearing an anime costume, just a different character. They do live here, but we are not sure which floor they were on,” a resident said.
