It’s good to see more restaurants taking part in the Menu Rahmah initiative following the introduction by the government not long ago. This time, the famous eatery Old Town White Coffee follows suit, and they’ll be introducing their very own Menu Rahmah starting this Thursday (February 23).
The prices range between RM4.50 to RM5, and the menu will consist of,
- Nasi Lemak Rahmah
- Nasi Lemak Rahmah with Sausage
- Nasi Lemak Rahmah with Minced Chicken
Menu Rahmah will come will a glass of lemon water and it will be available throughout all the outlets in Malaysia. While the initiative is done to ease the life of low-income customers, commonly known as the B40, the Chief Development Officer of Kopitiam Asia Pacific, Deric Yeo assured that the menu will be accessible to everyone.
“Everyone will be able to enjoy our Menu Rahmah. We can’t possibly identify who’s B40 and not.”
He also told BERNAMA that despite the cheaper price, the food quality will not be compromised and the nutritional content will still be observed by maintaining the same preparation process.
Go healthy with plant-based food
Menu Rahmah is not the only plan they have in mind. According to Deric, Old Town White Coffee will be introducing healthier plant-based dishes that are rich in protein and fibre. The date is not revealed, but it will be somewhere within this year.
If you’re a fan of its current menu, Deric said that the menu will not be changed entirely.
“We’ll add another category for people who are concerned about their health, and we’re currently working with Future Food Sdn Bhd to provide plant-based meat dishes.”
In case you’re wondering what plant-based meat dishes they have in mind, here’s what you can expect.
Old Town White Coffee will be making plant-based popcorn chicken available next month during Blackpink’s concert in Bukit Jalil. For fans and visitors of Blackpink concerts, you’ll have something from Old Town White Coffee to munch on during the concert!
“We’ll set up a kiosk at the stadium, so fans can have simple and delicious food to enjoy during the show,” Deric said.
For our Muslim friends, rest assured that all the ingredients used are halal-certified.
Taking part in the Menu Rahmah initiative is already a good step moving forward, and we’re surprised (and delighted) to know that Old Town White Coffee is introducing a healthy menu for the health junkies! Fellow Malaysians, are you up to giving their new menu a try?
