“Love You 3,000,” LCW Touches Malaysians’ Hearts in Post Dedicated to His Wife
While many of us enjoyed the rest and relaxation of Labour Day yesterday (1st May), it was an extra-special holiday for Malaysia’s star badminton player, Datuk Lee Chong Wei.
The 36-year-old shared that it was also his wife’s birthday yesterday in an Instagram post dedicated to her that touched thousands of netizens. An excerpt from his post reads,
“Ever since I met her during our teenage years, I knew I met the most beautiful girl in my life. Little did I know that she had the most beautiful heart as well.”
“Many have said that she’s lucky to be Lee Chong Wei’s missus. But let me get it straight, it’s because of her that Lee Chong Wei is who he is today. I owe her so much.”

The badminton player also mentioned how his wife, Datin Wong Mew Choo, supported him through tough times, referring to when his health took a hit after being diagnosed with early-stage nose cancer in July 2018.
“She was there for me when I was a nobody. She inspired me to work harder. She carried me during my darkest hours due to illness, and she gave me two little precious naughty rascals, Kingston and Terrance.”
“Happy birthday, my lovely wife. I promise you I won’t leave you so early yet. Let’s grow old together and celebrate many more birthdays of yours. Love you 3,000.”
Thousands of Instagram users were evidently touched by the heartfelt message the badminton player left for his wife, as the post garnered over 78,000 likes.
