A man from Kota Bharu who was slapped by a police officer was awarded a whopping RM112,040 in compensation today.

The slap was so bad that it actually caused bleeding in his left ear and rendered him deaf in that very same ear!

The incident happened 4 years ago where the victim, Mohd Faizu, heard a loud noise outside his father’s house to realise it’s a police raid. When he approached Mohd Erman to ask about the purpose of said raid, the man got mad and accused Mohd Faizu of attempting to obstruct police duties. He then slapped him on the left ear.

Mohd Faizu rushed to the hospital to seek treatment and doctors confirmed that his left ear suffered damage to the membrane. The victim attempted to lodge a police report but no one bothered to entertain him until he decided to sue the police officer involved. Hah, kantoi now.

The compensation he received is as such:

  • RM100,000 in exemplary damages
  • RM12,000 in general damages
  • RM40 in special damages
  • With 5% interest a year from date of filing the suit

According to The Sun Daily, Mohd Faizu was grateful to win the case and shared that the money will be put to good use for his family’s future.

“It has been four years, but my ears still hurt and I need to go for treatment from time to time,” he added.

Well, we’re glad he got the justice he deserved! As for the police officer, we hope he’ll be punished for his unnecessary brutal act against a civilian.
