A man was caught on video flashing his middle finger to DBKL officers after he was caught driving recklessly at Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur, in Selayang.

The incident happened at about 6pm on 7 November where an enforcement officer was controlling the traffic at the front entrance when he saw the white BMW SUV enter the market area in a fast and reckless manner, according to Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS.

As a precautionary measure, the enforcement officers followed the car and found a man in his 50s driving under the influence of alcohol.

An officer then started recording the man’s behaviour, however, this had caused the drunken man to get even angrier and started flashing his middle finger at the officer. The video shows the man’s wife trying to stop him as he repeatedly flashes his middle finger at the camera.

The officer later issued a compound notice according to Section 23 (1) (c) of the Wholesale Market By-Laws (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 2002 for the offence of obstructing or disrupting vehicle traffic at the wholesale market.

However, the police said they have yet to receive a report on the incident and has since contacted DBKL for further clarification on the matter, according to Sentul District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner S Shanmugamoorthy Chinniah.

“We are still waiting for the report to be made by any party involved in this case, including the DBKL enforcement members,” he said, reported Harian Metro.

“Based on the viral video, there are indeed offences committed but the investigation should be carried out thoroughly involving both parties.”

Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident, only provocation from the drunk man. Enforcement staff later returned to their duties after the incident.
