Sometimes, an employee’s hard work and loyalty should be rewarded with something more than just cash. For a cleaner in Singapore who has been working in a company for 10 years, she definitely got more than what she expected.

The cleaner “Aunty”, Tan Ai Tee got the shock of her life when she was given a Rolex watch worth SGD10,000 (approximately RM34,400) during the recent annual dinner of her workplace.

Ai Tee was not the only one who was rewarded but a total of 98 Rolex watches were given away to employees who have been serving the company for a long time, regardless of their positions.

This is truly a rare reward for an employee’s time and efforts.

Ai Tee has been working since she was 16 years old so her time in her current workplace, Paradise Group Holdings is not her 1st rodeo.

According to a report by The Straits Times, she used to work as a chicken rice vendor, installing computer accessories and in the sales industry. She joined a restaurant under Paradise Group in 2013 as a kitchen staff until its closure in 2016, before she started working as a clear under the same company until today.

With her myriad of experiences in different industries, Ai Tee certainly has an interesting resume.

“They’re family”

There are a lot of ways where you can tell you’re happy at where you are, without actually telling that you’re happy at where you are. For Ai Tee, her workplace is just like home and everyone is like family.

“I used to think about leaving to care for my family after my husband had stopped working but I couldn’t leave this place.”

She also revealed that the Rolex watch was not her 1st gift from Paradise Group.

“5 years ago, I received a 2.5 gram of gold bar, and another one 2 years ago, which weighed 5 grams.”

The company certainly has a way to reward its loyal employees! To all the Malaysian employers out there, do you see yourself rewarding you staff’s loyalty like this?
