A man in a house in Chenderong Balai, Perak has been arrested on Wednesday (8 June 2022) for taking drugs after the video he uploaded on social media of him getting high went viral.

The man who is believed to be a drug addict was detained by members of the Hilir Perak District Police Headquarters Narcotics Crime Investigation Division.

The arrest took place at around 5pm in the evening after the short clip of the man getting his fix went viral on a Facebook page ‘I Love Teluk Intan’.

According to Sinar Harian, Hilir Perak District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Adnan Basri said that the arrest was made as a result of information shared through a viral video.

According to him, an inspection of the 46-year-old man found four transparent plastic bags containing substances suspected to be heroin-type drugs with an estimated weight of 27.75 grammes.

“The aforementioned drug was found in a black bag worn on his right shoulder.”

“The man admitted that all of the drugs found were his,” he told reporters on Wednesday.

He also said that an initial screening of the urine test found that the suspect was positive for a morphine-type drug.

Further investigations are being carried out under Section 39(B) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
