It is truly saddening to see how there are children in the world who cannot run and play as the others can. But we as a community can still help give them the best life they can live.

Which is why Bukit Mertajam MP, Steven Sim, is now calling for the rakyat to support this struggling family’s business!

He took to his Facebook page to bring a spotlight on the family, who have a differently-abled child who can only watch as the other kids in the neighbourhood enjoy the current Harvest Festival celebrations.

Business 2

He wrote, “It broke my heart to see a 7-year-old child only able to lie in a cloth cradle. Ah Xiong is a differently-abled person, 2 years ago he underwent heart surgery. When children of the same age run here and there playing with lanterns, Ah Xiong could only lean on his mother’s arms.”

Though, through their hardships, the one thing the child can always rely on is the love and care provided to them by their parents.

Business

“Only the tireless mother’s love can give this child some comfort in life. His mother, Kak Ying, had to take care of Ah Xiong, his 2-year-old sibling and Ah Xiong’s grandmother who suffered a stroke last year.”

Considering Ah Xiong’s father receives an irregular salary from his job as a food delivery rider, Kak Ying also started a business of selling homemade cakes and cookies to help with their family’s income. But, the business needs some support as well.

Business 3

“If orders arrive, then there is income. Sometimes, there is no orders even for a month. Understandably, Kak Ying is unable to do great marketing as she has to take care of the children and the grandmother,”

“When I found out that Kak Ying sells homemade mooncakes, I immediately ordered 240 pieces from her.”

Sim’s order had totaled a sum of RM2,000, but he paid her RM5,000 to show his solidarity with her business, and is now urging Malaysians to show their support by ordering her pastries!

Business 4

“I have included pictures of the cakes and cookies that Kak Ying makes. Please, any friends who are willing and able to make an order to help her, you can order directly from Kak Ying at the phone number, 011-61323297,” he added.

We genuinely hope that more people order from the family so that their burdens can be eased. Even the smallest order can always go a long way.

Let’s support each other through these trying times!
