Recently, a series of tweets have been published by a Twitter user regarding his convocation antics at the National University of Singapore.

He mentioned that during his convocation, he held up a sign that says:

“Abolish the death penalty. NO to state murder. End poverty, not life. Blood on your hands.”

He mentioned in his tweets that “the live recording of my convocation was taken down and later re-uploaded with my part cut short.”

“If you could look at around 1:14:54, you’ll see the most obvious jump cut in the world,” he added.

He added that “my official stage photography that I paid for, for my own keepsake was also edited with the words blurred out.”

This thread has since garnered over 900 retweets and 2,000 likes on Twitter.

As of today (July 14), police has confirmed to Today, that a police report has been filed and they will look into it.

However, they did not mention who or when the report was made.

Lawyers that spoke to Today, mentioned that if the authorities are able to identify that the person holding the sign is him, he could be charged under section 16 of the Public Order Act (anyone who knowingly holds a public assembly or public without permit) and fined up to $5,000SGD (RM15,000).

“However, it is also arguable as to whether NUS is considered as a public space,” they added.

The lawyers also mentioned that “it really depends on investigations pertaining the matter and not just on his tweets.”

These are some of the stunts that graduating students have pulled up during their convocations! We wonder what the next one would be.
