For all of us regular folks, the increased prices of everyday goods such as chicken and cooking oil have become a considerable burden.

In a move to monitor the situation on the ground, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob recently made a surprise trip to a supermarket to monitor and check on the prices. However, Malaysians are not happy about it.

Taking to his official Twitter page, he showcased his visit to a supermarket yesterday (June 26) while his entourage and photographers followed him around.

He shared, “I care. I see and check myself. Now, I am in a supermarket in the middle of the capital for a surprise survey to monitor the prices of the latest items.”

“I also directly asked the buyers who were present today because many families take the time to buy necessities during the weekend,” he added.

In the video, the Prime Minister and his entourage stopped at the cabbage section and discussed the prices they were set at.

What about chicken and cooking oil?

The video, which stopped him from discussing the prices of cabbages, drew backlash from netizens as they believed he was not even focusing on the right things.

People are talking about chickens and cooking oil. Why are you busy with the cabbage,” commented a user.

“WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT THE PRICE OF CABBAGE!?” stated another user.

Another pointed out that it’s such a headache as chicken prices are going up and not the costs of cabbage.

“Yeah, you sure you care? We talked about chicken and cooking oil, not cabbage,” said another user.
