Dogs are a man’s best friend, but unfortunately, some of us don’t deserve them.

Recently, a 9-second video that shows a form of animal abuse has gone viral on social media. In the video, a passenger seated in a white Myvi can be seen dragging along a dog on a leash while the car is moving.

According to the caption, the incident took place in a residential area in Taman Sri Skudai, Johor Bahru.

Netizens cannot contain their anger & most of them have expressed their displeasure towards the animal cruelty.

It did not take long for the matter to reach the attention of the police. Last night (10 April), police in Johor released a statement and revealed that they had brought in a man and a woman for questioning. The incident took place last Friday (8 April) and the suspect was driving his brother-in-law’s vehicle.

The suspect also said that the dog belongs to him, which initially went missing and was later found in a dirty condition.

“The suspect thought that it was not suitable to put the dog in the car given its condition. So, the mother of the suspect used a leash and dragged the dog along from the passenger seat,” said the chief of police of Johor Bahru Utara.

Both of them, who are staying within the residential area were released on police bail after their statement have been recorded. The matter is currently being investigated under section 428 KK / Section 44(1)(a) Animal Act 1953 and the investigation papers will be sent to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.

The police urged the public to come forward and provide a statement if they have additional information on the matter.

Do you think the suspect’s excuse is justifiable for the action?
