Taking to social media, one netizen shared his experience driving in Jalan Kempas Utama, Johor Bharu and witnessing how dangerous an empty water barrier can be.

Water barriers are commonly seen at construction sites as a way to guide traffic from potential danger. In this case, it is the other way round, when empty water barriers littered the road and posed danger to small vehicles in the area.

In the 30-second video, a white water barrier can be seen littering the busy highway.

Able to soften the blow by braking his vehicle, the couple tried to help a motorcyclist avoid the barrier but was unable to do so.

What happened next shocked them! The motorcyclist hit the empty barrier and was almost ran over by a nearby truck but he avoided it just in time.

One netizen commented and said that water barriers should be filled with water and not be left empty like that.

“If it is called a water barrier, contractors should fill it up with water and not leave it empty.”

Another mentioned that those involved should bring the matter to court and sue the contractors because of their negligence.

Let’s hope that the authorities will get to the bottom of this, and slap those involved with a hefty fine.
