Cars are typically designed for comfort, but Singaporean authorities have taken a different approach by introducing a new level of comfort to police vehicles.

In a TikTok video posted by user @jksg98, he shares an interesting fact that many people may not yet know about the recently modified seats in Singaporean police cars.

Convenience over comfort?

In the video, JK shares some interesting information, mentioning that he just learned that the backseats of Singapore’s police cars no longer have cushions.

He mentioned being at a school open house with his children, where the police and ambulance vehicles were open for kids to explore.

He humorously remarks,

“Turns out the backseat of a police car has no cushions. Probably so people don’t end up peeing on them or stuffing things inside.”

Educating parents too, not just the kids!

JK further explained that while he’s not certain about the official reason, he thinks that the absence of cushions could be for safety and cleanliness purposes, particularly to prevent people from hiding knives or other weapons.

“I think it’s for safety, to prevent people from hiding knives and weapons, and also for cleanliness. But I’m not completely sure about the official explanation.”

He then noted that he heard it’s the latest design allegedly inspired by USA police cars, incorporated into the newest models.

When asked about his thoughts on the idea, he jokingly replied,

“I suppose it could be a good thing, as long as I’m not the one getting arrested.”
