For those of you planning to balik kampung this Raya, you better think twice!

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has warned that there will be strict action taken against any individuals trying to cross state borders to return home for the Ramadhan celebration.

As reported by Harian Metro, Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Datuk Zainal Abidin Kasim said his department would ensure strict inspections to be carried out at every roadblock (SJR) and only those with complete travel documents will be allowed to cross the state.

He said his team believed that there would be an increase in attempts to travel interstate nearing Ramadhan, which is expected to start on 13 April.

“There are various ways and methods that the public would use to cross the state borders. Hence, on PDRM’s part, we will tighten all inspections at roadblocks (SJR) to ensure that no one gets away with it,” he said.

“If there are any who do try crossing the state borders, no advice will be given but legal action will be taken against individuals found to be violating standard operating procedures (SOP),” he added.

“Are we going to continue to remain like this forever? Because there are still people out there who are not taking the SOPs seriously. Together let’s follow the SOPs, so that we will get to balik kampung.

Commenting further, Zainal Abidin said that till today, there are about 35 SJR held at every entrance and exit as well as state borders throughout the country.

“We will see an increase in the number of daily Covid-19 cases. If it increases, it means we will increase SJR,” he said.
