It has since been a year ever since the pandemic has reached Malaysia. With that, our lifestyle has changed to one where we abide by the SOPs strictly such as keeping a distance with other people and wearing masks whenever we’re outside.

One of the major changes is that now we need to check in to every place that we go with MySejahtera to facilitate contact-tracing efforts.

On 9 February, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has said (at the 7:30 mark onwards) that the usage of MySejahtera is now compulsory. However, they also allow the use of other contact tracing applications such as SeLangkah that is native to Selangor, but MySejahtera is compulsory.

“This is effective immediately but we do understand that there are rural places and kampung where there is no internet connectivity.”

“For that reason, we will still allow the use of logbooks where consumers can fill in their own particulars.”

The minister also said that he understands that many people do not want to fill in the particulars accurately. However, he says that the main aim in checking in is for contact tracing purposes in the case of Covid-19 positive cases in a certain premise.

Even though the number of cases is showing a downward trend, we have still not won the fight.
