Previously, Perlis Menteri Besar’s son and 4 other individuals were detained by MACC to assist in investigations involving false claims amounting to RM600,000.

As reported by NST, they have since been released on bail of RM10,000 each by MACC on 26 April, with the conditions of bail also requiring them to report to the MACC office every month.

Fast forward to today, the local media is reporting that the Perlis Menteri Besar was arrested over alleged abuse of power, though it is unknown whether the case has any connection with the case involving his son.

The reports added that MACC Chief Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed Shukri as being at the agency headquarters and didn’t deny the possibility that the Perlis Menteri Besar be arrested.

However, Shukri may also be released by MACC if the commission is satisfied with the Perlis Menteri Besar’s statement.
