A couple of weeks ago, Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) announced that they were organising a march today (May 1) to call for the government to increase minimum wage to RM2,000.

During this march, some of their members, as well as the people of Petaling Jaya, ended up at the PJ City Council (MBPJ) in an attempt to share their grievances with the mayor of Petaling Jaya, Zahri Samingon.

Though, now the mayor is receiving flak from the general public after he showed up to MBPJ with police escorts and behaved rudely to the people who were there, waiting for him. PSM Petaling Jaya showcased this in a video.

They wrote, “After more than 3 hours, the people of PJS1 waited for the presence of the mayor but the mayor was still nowhere to be seen. Residents have entered the MBPJ area and started to wait in from of the MBPJ entrance.”

“Rude behavior from MBPJ Mayor Tuan Haji Mohamad Zahri!”

Initially, the people had waited 3 hours for the mayor to arrive, and when he did (along with a police escort), he allegedly displayed rude behaviour to the people by ‘shushing’ them when they tried to speak to him.

His attitude towards the people didn’t sit well with the general public, leading many to bash him online.

Mayor 1

“Who is he? For what is he shushing the people like that? When you look at it, they just want a proper living for their households. It’s so sad that they have to do this. And his salary is paid by us.”

Mayor 5

“Arrogant and cocky.”
