Study: Malaysia Ranks 25th in the World for the Most Billionaires in 2024!

Malaysian billionaires have a piece of the global wealth pie. They own various assets, from cash and real estate to businesses and even personal property.

Thanks to our billionaires, Malaysia has secured the 25th spot on the Most Billionaires by Country in 2024 ranking list!

Malaysia has 17 billionaires as of 2024!

In the study, Malaysia claims the 25th spot with a total of 17 billionaires. Right behind is the Philippines with 16, securing the 26th position, while Mexico holds the 24th spot with 22 billionaires.

China leads among all Southeast Asian countries, securing the 2nd position on the list with an impressive total of 406 billionaires worth $1.3 trillion. Coming in at 3rd place is India with 200 billionaires, whose combined wealth totals $954 billion, showing an increase of over 40% from last year’s $675 billion.

While Hong Kong SAR in 8th place with 67 billionaires, adding another $330 billion to China’s total worth.

America’s billionaires have seen a big increase in their wealth

According to Forbes, the United States leads the world in the number of billionaires, with 813 people who collectively hold $5.7 trillion, setting new records.

97 people who either returned or joined the billionaire club, boosting their combined wealth by $1.2 trillion from last year. Some famous new faces include Taylor Swift, NBA legend Magic Johnson, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.

2. Tan Sri Quek Leng Chan – US$8.8 billion

3. Tan Sri Ananda Krishnan – US$4.9 billion

4. Tan Sri Koon Poh Keong – US$3.7 billion

5. Dato’ Lee Yeow Chor – US$3.1 billion

6. Lee Yeow Seng – US$2.3 billion

7. Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay – US$2.3 billion

8. Wong Kie Chie – US$2.2 billion

9. Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Cheah – US$2 billion

10. Tan Sri Lau Cho Kun – US$1.5 billion

11. Diona Teh Li Shian – US$1.4 billion

12. Lillian Teh Li Ming – US$1.4 billion

13. Lillyn Teh Li Hua – US$1.4 billion

14. Lim Chai Hock – US$ 1.4 billion

15. William Teh Lee Pang – US$ 1.4 billion

16. Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Albukhary – US$1.3 billion
