The search is on for individuals posing as Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel who are reportedly on the run with several Covid-19 record logbooks taken from businesses located around Melaka Tengah yesterday (7 September).

Rahmad Mariman, the State Health and Anti-Drugs Committee chairman said that multiple incidents like these were reported after business operators began lodging complaints to the Melaka Health Department and the police, following a source from BERNAMA.

“We are worried that if this continues, it would cause the community to lose confidence in writing down their details in the logbook before entering the premises. We are also concerned that personal data would be manipulated for criminal threats or fraud activities through phone calls,” said Rahmad in a press conference.

The acts are typically executed by groups of two or three individuals who flash their authority cards and a form said to be from the state health department before they flee from the business premise with the logbook in hand.

Rahmad stressed that the Melaka Health Department did not issue any instruction informing their officials to take the Covid-19 screening books from the district health department or office.

Since these incidents are growing in number, Rahmad said the Melaka Tengah Health office has lodged a police report for further action to be taken against the offenders. They have also advised business owners not to permit any party easy access to these Covid-19 logbooks.

Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Afzanizar Ahmad confirmed that reports have been received regarding these logbook thieves but no arrest has been made yet.

Alternatively, you could also download MySejahtera and scan QR codes to log in to these business premises. Stay safe and informed everybody! What do you guys think of this?
