One of the most important rules all Malaysians should be aware of is that you should NEVER insult the royals, even if you’re just using social media. The punishment for such actions can range from a hefty fine to jail time. However, it seems like the admin of this Instagram account didn’t get the memo and is going out of their way to insult the Agong.

Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, recently exposed a parody Instagram account @bukan_bangjago that seemingly posts defamatory content against the Agong.

“If you can’t beat them, join them! Showed these posts to my husband and told him “You look so cute and sexy!”. When people are jobless, this is what they do, sin for no reason. I’ll just surrender to Allah. Please take action!”

The account featured the Agong’s face superimposed onto irrelevant situations and instances intended to insult the Sultan.

Netizens urged for strict action to be taken against the admin of the account. One commenter even said that rulers nowadays should give out capital punishment like what the kings did in the olden days.

“Last time, kings would just behead wrongdoers like these! Rude people like these don’t deserve to live in Malaysia.”

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has since confirmed that they received a report and are currently investigating allegations by the owner of the Instagram account @Bukan_Bang_Jago, who was found insulting the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the national anthem, Negaraku, and the Malaysian flag.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department Director, Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the case is currently being investigated by Classified Criminal Investigation Unit (USJT), Prosecution and Legal Division (D5), Bukit Aman JSJ under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

He also urged the public to be more prudent and smart when they’re using social media and to not use their platform till it disrupts the harmony of the country, reported Bernama. World of Buzz has reached out to the admin of the Instagram account and have yet to receive a response.

Let this be a warning to all of us to be more careful as social media users!
