A Malaysian recently took to social media to voice out the dissatisfaction of having too many jobs given to foreign workers.

The Facebook user named Wen wrote,

“Actually we shouldn’t be hiring foreign workers. Now, some of them have even become bosses for themselves, and it has become harder for us to find a job.

“Having too many foreign workers will cause more social problems. Please wake up, otherwise we would eventually be bullied by them.”

The user further listed the problems Malaysians would face:

“It’s not that we can’t hire foreign workers, but being overrun with them will cause issues like:

  1. The number of robberies and rape cases may increase
  2. They undercut and steal our businesses
  3. They work in F&B industries. They are unsanitary. Anyone would lose their appetite
  4. The number of foreign workers are almost more than Chinese citizens, they may soon take over our ‘spot’
  5. After they get their IC, these foreign workers are going to compete with us for local benefits”

Wen’s post has since garnered a lot of attention with many Malaysians giving their mixed opinion about the situation.

However, most disagreed with Wen’s perception of the foreign workers.

Translation: I personally think that the social problems from the foreign workers do not exceed the ones done by Malaysians themselves.

Even netizens who are bosses themselves gave their own two cents, mentioning that most young adults nowadays cannot be compared to these foreign workers.

“Young Malaysians nowadays want to look for an easy job, lots of company benefits, then after working for a while, they quit and find a new job. They take holidays as they like by giving tons of excuses, and they work just to earn money, not for career development,” one wrote.

“People cannot complain that foreigners are stealing their jobs. Businesses wouldn’t be able to find someone willing to work jobs such as waiters, construction workers, movers etc. Would young adults do these jobs? Maybe, but only very very few would,” another commented.
