Now this is seriously a tragic moment every Malaysian should learn from.

A close friend shared with us at WOB a horrible experience he encountered a few days ago and after reading this, you will also find yourself boiling with rage.

He recounts,

“I had a long night of partying, and when I was about to head home at about 6.30am, I spotted a guy severely injured on the street. This was along Jalan Raja Chulan.

“There were a few people, about 4 to 5 individuals, crowded beside him. They started explaining to me what had happened to him. Apparently, as he wanted to cross the road, he was hit by a vehicle – I’m not sure if it was a car or bus.”

Now here comes the shocking part. Calvin revealed that when he asked if an ambulance is coming, the people just stood there clueless.

“I asked them if an ambulance is on its way, and to my horror, no one tried calling one! I had to be the one to call for help!!!

“The driver was at the scene as well. I tried talking to him but the man was blatantly in shock.”

In the heated and intense moment, Calvin called the ambulance over and over to make sure they came ASAP. The ambulance finally arrived after 20 minutes, but what happened after made Calvin seriously disappointed.

“When the ambulance arrived, the medic or whatever personnel took his sweet time to attend to the victim. It’s as if he was reenacting Baywatch. He walked macam with style, slowly opened the back of the ambulance and took his time to check the guy who’s severely injured on the street.

“You would’ve thought they’d be rushing to him immediately to save his life, because every second counts right? This is a HUMAN’S LIFE!”

Calvin expressed how he was sorely disappointed with the medic team. There was no traffic yet it took 20 minutes for them to arrive, and even after that, the medic took his own sweet time to attend to the victim.

Calvin left the scene after the police arrived. However, what he experienced will leave a mark in his memory.

“It was crazy to have experienced that. The man was still moving when I saw him, but then he stopped. To see someone alive and then die right infront of your eyes is… There are no words to describe it.”

Calvin admitted that he doesn’t know if anything could’ve been done differently to save his life. But he wished some of the bystanders who were first at the scene could’ve called the ambulance earlier, and that the ambulance arrived much quicker to the scene. Or even the medic for that matter, to rush to his side to aid him.

It certainly is infuriating and outrageous how there was no urgency to help the severely injured person. Well, next time you guys are in the same position, remember to always call the ambulance first – even if you’re in shock, that should be the first thing to do!
