It’s no secret that everyone loves Sugu Pavithra!

In fact, the couple have become such a recognisable force to reckon with that the Ipoh City Council (MBI) is naming Pavithra as this year’s Ipoh City Icon.

As according to Bernama, the mayor of Ipoh, Datuk Rumaizi Baharin said that 28-year-old Pavithra; who was born in Buntong, deserved the recognition as she has become instantly recognisable that she even caught the attention of Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Pavithra, who began uploading videos of her cooking with her husband and speaks fluent Malay, will be among 10 others who will be named as icons.

“We will accord recognition to every Ipoh-born, like Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh previously. MBI is honest in its recognition of Pavithra because she is well known and many are now following their cooking recipes. The 32nd Ipoh City Day celebration this year cannot be held due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so we will award them officially at next year’s celebration,” he said.

He also added that MBI had also identified 100 people from various backgrounds including entrepreneurs, artists, civil service workers and teachers who will be recognised as icons in stages.

And honestly, with how quickly and how far Sugu Pavithra has come since the beginning of their YouTube career, Pavithra truly deserves it.

Now, the only thing that’s left to do is for Sugu’s hometown to recognise him as well.

Stay tuned for more updates!
