The act of a passerby, who seemingly went out of her way to vandalise a parked vehicle in Kuala Lumpur, left Malaysians perplexed recently after footage of the incident went viral online.
Making its rounds online, including in this post on the DashCam Malaysia Facebook group, the video was recorded by the driver of the vandalised vehicle, who found their car’s windscreen smashed by a rock when returning to the vehicle.
A woman hurls a rock and smashes the windscreen of a parked Tesla EV on a road in Kuala Lumpur

Based on the interior of the car, especially the software running on the centre screen, the vehicle is a Tesla electric vehicle (EV).
This is further supported by the ‘Sentry’ mode feature on the car, which also revealed how the windscreen ended up shattered.

For context, Sentry mode is a security system embedded in Tesla vehicles that monitors the vehicle for potential threats while it’s parked and the owner is away.
The system uses the vehicle’s cameras and sensors to detect and record suspicious activity, and in this case, it recorded the actions of a woman who caused the damage.

Specifically, the Sentry mode playback on the screen showed a woman, dressed in all green and wearing a face mask, approaching the car while holding files in one hand and a huge rock in the other.
She then hurled the rock at the Tesla EV’s windscreen, smashing it. Afterwards, the woman simply walked away and went about her day.

Based on the timestamp on the screen, the incident took place at 3.14pm on Sunday (2 March), which was the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in Malaysia.
This prompted the individual who posted the video on the DashCam Malaysia Facebook group to write,
“First day of puasa but already doing a misdeed. Haiya.”
The Tesla EV was parked properly on the road, and the owner wasn’t near the car when the incident happened

Given that the Sentry mode recorded the incident, it meant that the driver wasn’t around the vehicle when the woman smashed the windscreen. Hence, it is unknown what caused the woman to commit the shocking act of vandalism.

In the comments section of the post, one commenter managed to find the exact location of where the Tesla EV was parked, which is at Lorong Damai 13 Kiri in Kuala Lumpur.

This information, coupled with the rear camera’s footage during Sentry mode, confirmed that the vehicle was properly parked inside a parking box in the area, hence, the perpetrator couldn’t have been enraged by the car blocking the road.

As of the time of writing, it is unknown whether the Tesla EV owner had lodged a police report. Furthermore, the motive behind the perpetrator’s actions is also unknown.
