It seems that even in broad daylight, no one is safe from thieves. In an incident which happened yesterday morning (February 22), a woman, who had just fueled her red Toyota Yaris at a petrol station near the Cheras MRT, was caught on video being robbed by 2 men who escaped on motorbikes.

According to dashcam footage captured from a vehicle waiting to enter the petrol station right behind her car, the woman is seen walking towards the driver’s side of her car to unlock the door to get in and drive away after she had finished up fueling her car.

Man

Much to her surprise, a man wearing a motorcycle helmet was waiting on the vehicle’s front passenger side and as soon she unlocked her car, he quickly opened the passenger door and snatched her purse on the front seat.

After she had realised what had happened, she tries to catch the man who was running for his motorcycle parked in front of the woman’s car.

Despite managing to grab one of them by his arm, she loses her balance and falls down, allowing the thief to ride away, followed by another rider, who is suspected to be his lookout.

As she tries to get up, the thief’s accomplice barely misses running over her legs with his motorbike in his escape.

The woman has since lodged a police report on the incident and her losses have been estimated to be around RM500.

Woman

Cheras district police chief ACP Zam Halim Jamaluddin is calling for witnesses with information to contact the Cheras police hotline at +603-92845050 or +603-92845051, or the KL police hotline at +603-21159999.

Watch a video of the incident below:

We hope that the woman recovers from the incident and that the police manages to track down the perpetrators.
