Earlier, an ice tea seller in Indonesia went viral after he was publicly insulted and humiliated by a controversial preacher during an event.

This incident gained the attention of many sympathetic netizens around the world, and a Malaysian content creator, Adrian Edy recently spent some time with the tea seller, Uncle Sunhaji who’s fondly known as Pak Sun, to provide some emotional support.

In his Facebook and TikTok posts @adrianedy7, Adrian revealed that he spoke to Pak Sun via video call, who is currently staying in the Magelang Jawa Tengah district in Indonesia, which is 7 hours away from the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta. Despite the short conversation, Adrian learned a lot about Pak Sun’s situation.

Pak Sun doesn’t live an easy life but he is stronger than many when facing obstacles

Adrain said that after the humiliating incident went viral, Pak Sun’s wife and kids were saddened by the matter.

“They cried after the video circulated. Pak Sun’s sole income is his Iced Tea business.”

Unfortunately, even before the humiliation took place, Pak Sun was already having a bad day.

“His motorcycle was stolen, and he hasn’t paid his kids’ school fees for 6 months because he cannot afford it.”

Pak Sun sells his Iced Tea at only IDR5,000 (approximately RM1.40) per bottle

On the day the preacher made fun of him, Pak Sun had yet to sell anything.

“On bad days, Pak Sun has a lot of leftovers. Even after the event, Pak Sun went home without earning anything.”

Pak Sun, however, remained calm despite the tough days and having too much on his plate. He told Adrian,

“It’s okay, I’m used to it. I have forgiven everyone because everyone makes mistakes. Someday, I might make a mistake too.”

The kind, generous man also invited Adrian to Indonesia someday and said that he would love to treat Adrian to his Iced Tea if he made it there. Adrian also mentioned in his post that he hoped Pak Sun’s story would spread some positivity. Pak Sun also revealed that following the circulation of the video, many people have come forward and offered financial help.

The said preacher, Gus Miftah Habiburrohman has since apologised to Pak Sun.

To Pak Sun and everyone who is out there struggling to make ends meet, hang in there and trust that better days are coming.
