A group of masked men armed with knives made off with two pickup trucks belonging to the Social Welfare Department (JKM) office in Tanah Merah in an early‑morning incident on Sunday (April 12).

The incident, which occurred at about 4:30 AM, also saw the suspects restraining the security guard on duty by tying his hands and feet.

According to a source, preliminary investigations revealed that the group, who were fully masked and wearing gloves, threatened the guard with knives before subduing him. The suspects reportedly forced the victim to remove his shirt before binding his hands and legs.

“An inspection at the scene found that the suspects had stolen two JKM pickup trucks. In addition, they took the victim’s wallet, RM300 in cash, a mobile phone, and motorcycle keys,” the source said.

Meanwhile, Kelantan JKM director Che Samsuzuki Che Noh confirmed the incident when contacted, adding that a police report had been lodged.
