It’s that time of the year again when talks about increments and bonuses take place over your performance review. Have you gotten yours?

Employees of Taiwanese airline, Tigerair were granted bonuses worth between 10.8 and 14 months. ahead of the Chinese New Year, which falls on February 10 as reported by Focus Taiwan.

Tigerair Taiwan Chairman Chen Han Ming said a company board meeting earlier in the day approved a proposal to give 4 months of salaries and NT$20,000 (approximately RM2,984) in standard bonuses, plus NT$50,000 (approximately RM7,400) to NT$80,000 (approximately RM11,900) in performance-based bonuses, to the airline’s employees.

“The highest bonus an employee could receive is 14 months salary,” Chen said.

In addition, staff will also receive a bonus of four months’ salary and a standard bonus of NT20,000 (RM2,977). The generous bonuses were mainly contributed by the company’s soaring 848.29 percent in revenue from a year earlier due to an increase in passenger flights.

In addition to the fat year-end bonuses, Chen said the company has also decided to raise employees’ salaries by 4 percent on average for 2024.

Last month, Chen said that year-end bonuses would be assessed based on a score of “10 out of 10”. The score is based on honest feedback and satisfaction given by customers.

As demand for air travel remains strong, Chen said, airfares are expected to continue to grow this year.

Based on the tickets reserved for the 3 months, most of the routes are headed to Japan, while tickets to Vietnam hold the 2nd-highest position.

As more flights have been scheduled, Angkor Wat of Cambodia is a possible new destination for Tigerair Taiwan, and it will start to fly to Haiphong of Vietnam soon. By 2025, the airline is hoping to fly to Hong Kong, as well as to Xiamen, Fuzhou, Zhangjiajie, Wuxi, and Tianjin.

To those frequent travellers out there, have you flown with Tigerair before? How was your experience?
