Just yesterday, a local singer and composer was charged at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court for allegedly distributing cannabis at his condominium unit in Kota Damansara.
He was also charged in the Sessions Court for allegedly growing 17 cannabis plants at the same location.
When arriving at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex, he had requested for media personnel present at the scene to pass a message along to Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) President and Muar MP, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
“Send my regards to YB Syed Saddiq, ask him to quickly expedite the approval of cannabis for medicine in Parliament,” he had said.
Well, since then, Syed Saddiq has responded to the singer via a Twitter post.
He wrote, “I pray that Yasin (the singer) has the best defense in court. My stance has not changed. We should legalise medical cannabis NOW! Follow the science and data.”
He also included a clip from a Parliament session where he presented his standpoint on medical cannabis and hemp, and urged the authorities to follows the data and science that has been presented in order to look into and approve the hemp and medical marijuana industry for Malaysia.
