Following the latest Covid-19 infection statistics issued by the Ministry of Health, a message claiming that workers are not allowed to conduct any business or personal travels in and out of Tawau and Lahad Datu was circulated on social media.

Balai Lahad

Sabah Police have denied the viral claims that travel restrictions have been imposed in Tawau and Lahad Datu, despite the upsurge in Covid-19 cases in these two districts, according to BERNAMA.

The information being circulated is not true and the police have not received any directive on such restrictions, said Datuk Hazani Ghazali, the Sabah Police Commissioner.

“The matter will be decided in a meeting with the Chief Minister (Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal) this morning,” he said when contacted on 8 September 2020.

Yesterday (7 September 2020), there were a total of 62 new Covid-19 cases recorded, and the majority of the positive cases are from  Cluster Benteng LD in Sabah.

Although there is no travel restriction imposed, remember to always protect your own safety and health, as well as to comply with the government’s standard operating procedures.
