Phase 1 of Rahmah Cash Aid Will be Disbursed Tomorrow with 25% More for Households, 20% More for Singles

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) just announced that Phase 1 of the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) will start tomorrow, with RM2.3 billion being allocated, up from RM2.1 billion last year.

In a statement, they said payments will be made by crediting the bank accounts of registered recipients or handed out in cash through Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), depending on each person’s STR eligibility.

Government has increased household amounts by 25%

The statement also mentioned that the STR and Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA) 2025 program will help nearly 9 million people or 60% of the adult population.

“For STR and SARA 2025, the government has raised the max amount for households to RM4,600, which is almost 25% more than the RM3,700 last year,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the bigger allocation for STR Phase 1, which goes well beyond the national inflation rate, shows the government’s commitment to improving the well-being of a large part of the population, even with the rising cost of living.

“Even though the rising cost of living is a global issue, the MADANI government hopes the increased SARA and STR contributions this year will help people live a better life,” he added.

A 20% increase for single individuals

The MOF also noted that the minimum amount for single individuals has increased to RM600 from RM500 last year, a 20% increase.

The MOF said applications and updates for STR will be open all year and reminds anyone who can’t find their name in the STR database to apply on the official STR portal to check their eligibility.

The public is also advised to remain cautious of unauthorised links from irresponsible parties.
