Police have denied allegations that went viral on social media claiming that a policeman in Perak had died after receiving his second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine shot.

Previously, a Facebook post under the name of user ‘Junaidah June’ went viral after it claimed that a policeperson in Gerik, Perak had passed away after receiving the Covid-19 vaccination.

Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid, Perak Police Chief said that the respective policeman is currently being treated at the Taiping Hospital due to a heart attack.

“He has regained consciousness and in stable condition and will be referred to the National Heart Institute soon,” he said, according to BERNAMA.

Mior Faridalathrash also added that action will be taken against the owner of the social media account for spreading fake news and causing concern among the public on receiving the vaccination.

“The policeman’s family is also affected by this irresponsible act,” Mior advised people to verify any information received before sharing.

As of now, there are still many Malaysians who have yet to register for the Covid-19 vaccine, only about 31 per cent of the total population in Malaysia has registered. According to Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, the second phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme will start on 17 April 2021.
